Privacy Policy

INSQUARE ("we", "us", "the app") is a rental marketplace that connects property owners ("Spacers") with people looking for rooms and accommodation ("Seekers") in India. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have over it. By using INSQUARE you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to operate the marketplace:

• Account information: your full name, email address, and mobile number, provided when you register.
• Location: with your permission, your device's approximate and precise location, used to show rooms and properties nearest to you. Your location is used for sorting results and is not stored on our servers as a location history.
• Photos: images of rooms and properties that Spacers upload to create listings.
• Payment information: records of rent payments and UPI transaction reference numbers. We do not store your full card numbers, UPI PIN, or banking credentials — payments are completed through your own UPI app.
• Messages: chat messages exchanged between Seekers and Spacers within the app. Message contents are encrypted.
• Device information: a Firebase Cloud Messaging token used to deliver push notifications (for example, booking requests and payment confirmations).

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account and bookings.
• To connect Seekers with Spacers and enable rental arrangements.
• To show nearby rooms and properties based on your location.
• To process and record rent payments and generate receipts.
• To enable in-app chat between matched users.
• To send notifications such as booking requests, reminders, and payment updates.
• To verify identity and improve trust and safety on the platform.

3. Information Shared Between Users

INSQUARE is a marketplace, so some information is shared between matched users by design. When a booking or rental arrangement is created, a Seeker and the relevant Spacer can see each other's name and contact details (such as phone number) so they can communicate and complete the rental. We do not sell your personal information to third parties or use it for advertising.

4. How We Protect Your Information

• All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections, with certificate pinning between the app and our servers.
• Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device.
• Chat messages are encrypted.
• Access to personal data is restricted to your own account; you cannot access another user's private data.

5. Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, maintain records of bookings and payments, and comply with legal obligations. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data (see Section 7).

6. Third-Party Services

We use Google Firebase (for push notifications) and your device's UPI applications (for completing payments). These services process limited data as required to function and are governed by their own privacy policies.

7. Your Rights

In line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of your personal data, and to withdraw consent for optional data collection (such as location). To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

9. Children

INSQUARE is intended for users aged 18 and above and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
